"Fortune" Illustration Friday

When I was a little girl my birthday was hardly ever celebrated. It is January 4th. My parents always told me it was too close to Christmas. When I received a present they would say "this is for Christmas and your birthday". Now that I am older I celebrate my birthday with gusto, never to be thrown into Christmas or other holiday celebrations. My good fortune is to always celebrate and acknowledge not only my birthday but the birthdays of family, friends and loved ones.

Jan 4th and Christmas combined? Your parents were milking that one! (sorry) This is a wonderful illo and I agree with you 100%. Birthdays are to be celebrated, each and every one of them. No fear of getting older, just be glad you're having another b'day! Great job.

So glad to see you posting again, Tara! I hear that...my bday is Dec. 27th! I've always had the same thing. Here's both presents! I hated that as a kid too. It could have been worse. We could have come early and been born on xmas. Love your art style...

This is SO beautiful! I love your work! - My best friend was born on December 24th. He also gets birthday/Cristmas presents. What's worse is his mother was born that day too and insists that they all go to her favorite restaurant on that night which he hates. - Well, happy belated birthday Tara! I'm so glad to see your art.

I love all these "too close to Christmas" posts! Mine's December 30th. This year one of my kids wrapped my present in Christmas wrapping. For once I refrained from my usual complaining. That only took 50 years! hahaha Cheers to the Capricorns!
