Some more small paintings

I'm working on these small paintings and I am happy with the way they are turning out. I really like using the drywall tape for texture. I will be making more tonite and getting copies made later.

ReStore Goodness

I made a trip to the restore store today. There were so many cool things to look at. They had some marble slabs I could have used for counter tops. I didn't take a photo of those though. I started thinking about who could install them for me, then I immediately lost interest since it would be a big job I'm not ready for yet.

There was this cool dressmakers stand.

A box for letters...

That clown puppet was a little scary!

This guy way way up high on top of some shelving, he seemed to enjoy making sure the mannequins were all in place!

Vintage lockers...

Mannequins...

and more...

The mannequins were great, there are 27 of them! Hmmmm...what could I do with those?

I wouldn't want to take a bath in any of these!

And I really liked this cabinet. I would have taken this home if I had a spot for it.

the end...

Kim Murton

My Kim Murton pieces arrived today! I so love her work. So whimsical and fun! They are both in my kitchen resting peacefully after their long UPS ride from California.

Be Happy Now

This wonderful little book is by Jenny M. of "Be Happy Now". She sells her treasures on etsy. Her work is wonderful, especially these little original illustrated books. I just love her work. To see more of her illustrations check here. She lives in Jerusalem so her work takes a little while to get to the states but it is well worth the wait. She always makes original art on the envelope she sends it in too. Her work makes me very happy!

Gilbert

Here is another stuffie that I've added to my shop. I bought some more recycled sweaters tonite and hope to get them all washed up and ready to make more dolls. I have a really good idea for a future stuffie, but I can't make it quite yet. I think I need an orange sweater.

Making more stuffies

Can you believe it, it is snowing in Seattle! We are having the weirdest weather, hail, sleet, snow, thunder storms and sun, all within the same day,,,,hour! So, I have been busy inside making stuffies. And,,, here they are. I am really happy with how they are coming out. And, no broken sewing machine needles either! They are made from recycled sweaters, prints of my own art, and filled with polyfill. I will start posting them soon on etsy. I'm not sure if I can part with the first one I made, yet...

p.s. Update....Gerbert (the tallest one) is in my shop

New stuffies

I made some new stuffies today. I really like using wool instead of fabric, it is so much more forgiving. And I can manipulate it easier.

Lolli
This is Lolli, she is in my studio right now.

Lolli in my studio

And this is her friend, "The little one".

And the little one

The faces are designs from my original paintings. I transfer the images onto muslin. The bodies are from recycled wool sweaters, and stuffed with fiberfill. Lolli is large, about 16 inches tall. And the little one is about 8 inches tall.
Now I need some striped sweaters to make more friends.

Do you have something to be happy about?

I'm reading Eckhart Tolle's "A New Earth". Which really has nothing to do with this illustration but drawing, painting and reading are foremost on my mind right now. I feel scattered today and not sure why. Anyway,,,,, It's wonderful and I even was able to participate in the webcast Monday night. I haven't got very far in the book yet, I'm savoring each thought I read and going back and reading certain parts again. And,,,, I do feel happy today, even though a little scattered...

Friends of the Seattle Public Library Book Sale

The Seattle Public library has a book sale twice a year. It is wonderful and not to be missed! It is held in an old airplane hanger and it is filled to the brim with books, all kinds of books. I just love going to it and I almost forgot about it yesterday! Most books are $1.00. I bought these Children's books for the wonderful illustrations. I also got some old 1930's engineering books I can cut up for my collages. I can't wait to go back in the fall. I wish I could show you some of the insides of these books, but I think its against copyrite laws. I love the book by Giselle Potter. I researched her on Amazon and found more books illustrated by her. Now I have ordered two more. Books are so addicting!

I was fortunate to get to see His Holiness, the Dalai Lama yesterday. He is here in Seattle for 5 days. I went to a panel discussion at the key arena. It was wonderful. I used my camera in my cell phone for the first time, but I'm not sure how to load them to my computer. The panel discussion was "From knowledge to compassion, what we can all do".

New art handbag project

I am so excited to make these handbags! I use gently used handbags to create my art creations on. These handbags are great! The photos show two different sides of the same bag. These will be in my shop soon but I wanted to have a couple to list so customers can chose. I am making another one, but it will be hard to give up, I think I want to keep it for myself. If you are interested in one just drop me a line. I will post sizes and dimensions in my shop.

Sketch at Les Schwab

I got new tires today, and boy can I tell a difference! This is a sketch I quickly did while I was waiting. Oh, and I got "sniping",,, that means they will hug the road better on ice, which we really need here in Seattle.

Puppy Patrol

I have had more time to work in my journal the last couple of days. Here is my latest. It is called "Puppy Patrol". I just found out I need new tires for my car. Ugh. They are very expensive. I guess there is no good time to buy new tires. Hey, maybe I'll just borrow this Puppy's tires, they look like they are in better shape than mine!
