Artfest!

Artfest classes will be live on Site this Sat nite at Midnight! Go for a look, you're in for a treat! I am so thrilled and excited to be teaching "Journal Babies". It will be a totally fun class for beginners and advanced artists alike. We will be journaling and painting on three feet linoleum shaped as our journal baby.  There will also be a little exploration of the Poloroid Pogo Printer to add images to our journal baby. I hope to see you there. There are so many fabulous teachers, I hope you can come!!!

Here is what Teesha Moore (The main host of Artfest) said today on yahoo groups.
"OH MY GOODNESS!!!  Tiphoni, my web guru (and daughter) just sent me the link to the artfest classes (we have the teachers double check everything before the big reveal).  and let me tell you...IT IS FANTASTIC this year!!!  This is one of those moments I well up with pride....OK I said it...I am DARN proud of Artfest!  The teachers go way above and beyond, Tiffany goes above and beyond to convey the coolness of each class, and the universe sprinkles some kind of magic dust over everything to make it all twinkly and sparkly.

I'm telling you...hold onto your hats...it's gonna be a tough decision this year picking just 3.

OK...midnight next saturday is when it goes live."

I also created another art piece today following my bird theme for Etsy, look for it very soon. I hope to list it tonite or tomorrow.

Journal pages revised

I decided to re-do the faces on my journal page. The first ones seemed too long, and just not my style. I really like taking a chance to re-do something and keep working on it until its what you want. Don't be afraid to keep painting, and painting over what you don't like.  Another tip I have is to wait to the next day and look at your art with fresh eyes.  Sometimes getting away from it for a little while helps you decide what you need to change or revise.  This is created in my new journal from Strathmore.   Happy painting!

Cool mail art....

...from my friend Syd. Syd makes the most amazing, fun, colorful, art. I just love these canvas journals she makes, with lots of different styles of papers inside. Thank you so much Syd. And the best part is,,, we will be doing another collab together. (As in collaborative). Remember the one we did from last year? I can't wait to get started. I'll show you progress as we go along. We will be creating in fun journals this time!

When to stop...

Sometimes it's hard to know when to stop working on a painting. I think I'll stop now!

Notice how the little "Happy Valley" from my map peaks through? I like that.

What I am working on

I have been working on this piece all weekend. Well, not all, weekend, but I have re-worked it and re-worked it and I still am not quite happy with it. The good thing is,,,I can paint over it if I don't like it!
I wanted to paint on birch plywood,,, it has such a nice feel to it. Here are some photos that demonstrate leading up to what I have accomplished so far.

Step 1 - prepare the surface with molding paste and collage.

Step 2 - Gesso all over, let dry.

Step 3 - Paint with acrylic in random areas of the surface.

Step 4 - Add your art work. ... And keep adding..... until it makes you happy!!!

Tip = Use an old shower curtain liner to paint on, then you won't need to worry about getting paint on your floor!

So, I will keep working on this piece until it makes me happy!

I am so excited to offer one of my latest paintings, "Group Hug" in postcards! These were professionally printed on heavy matt cardstock. I have other postcards in my shop and I can mix and match them for you.

I am also offering a new original painting in my shop called "My Sister". Created on gallery wrapped canvas with acrylic.

Have a lovely day...

Ying and Yang

I have completed another journal page, and now it's ready for my text.  I always paint my images first, then add the text later.  I can do that anywhere, in a coffee shop, outside, at the beach, where ever, because the painting part is done.  I kinda like the flying house birthday cake!  The wings have pink glitter on them,,,,yummy!
